Tips & Tricks for keeping your face Fleeky & ready on the beach...with all this heat !

By Shida | August 27, 2017

Some days we go to the beach to submerge from head to toe, washing away any worries. Other days we go to show off our sun-kissed skin, and let's not forget the mini photo shoot for Instagram.

Let's keep it one hundred there are days where we go to do both; photo shoot first, then dive in, forgetting about that full face of makeup.

Who cares right ?!?!

Ha - We all say that until your crush from the gym (the one that doesn't know he's your husband and father of your two perfect children) or your Instagram stalker who has never seen you without your trusty filter shows up.

Don't hide GURL !!! I got you.

First things first, Sunblock

There's nothing CUTE about a bad tan or worse, getting sunburn. Even if you decide to wear full glam squad makeup to the beach apply sunscreen to your face (and everywhere else obvi) but let it settle in before going in with your routine. Our favorite sunscreen is the Neutrogena Beach Defense because it doesn't leave a white cast like a lot of other brands, and it's water proof and it's SPF 70 and it's available islandwide.

Be very minimal with your makeup application.

Fill in your eyebrows if necessary and conceal major blemishes. You can highlight under your eyes a little but leave the major highlighting and contouring alone. The fewer products on your face the better!

BB Cream vs Foundation?

Definitely, always choose the BB Cream for the beach. It is light-weight, and most comes with SPF, which is added defense against the sun. Did we mention we love that it's light-weight - that way if and when you decide it's time to be a mermaid, there's no worry about losing layers of hard earned makeup? BB Creams also give a dewy finish because don't play yourself, you will start sweating at the beach. So just go with a dewy look from the get go. Embrace your sun-kissed side!

Glow Up!

Now for the fun! Use a highlighter like Manna Kadar Glo Illuminator and place on the points where the light hits your face (eyebrow bone, cheek bone, temple, nose, chin). This will give a vague appearance that you actually did highlight and contour because the high points will glow.

Matte lipstick of course

Enough said here because come on...

Bonus tip: If you can't be bothered with makeup grab your biggest pair of sunglasses - I swear by the Needing Frames by Quay Australia - they literally make you over Jane Bond style. Incognito baby.
