What started out as an honest quest to see if I could play "matchmaker" for a dear family friend turned out to be a very interesting "social experiment" on love.
Firstly, I was wrong.
I basically threw one man out into a sea of over 1,000 ladies.
I have noooo idea what I was thinking or drinking (definately not smoking) but my inbox went haywire.
What was interesting was (..well in my opinion) all the women that responded were all over qualified for the job. Women totally have their A game going on in life.
Like seriously. Empire building, wealth managing, free spiriting the shit out of life while my guy wanted someone who was well toned and beautiful.
I firmly believe men have no idea what the really want. Or maybe the playing field has changed so drastically that women have so much more to offer that men get confused and play dumb.
I'll share a little secret with you.
I've been single for 9 months ( I could get into days and minutes and seconds because I am counting my blessings) but I wont. My last relationship however was THE BEST I've ever had. Not because he didn't cheat and lie and all the cliche things guys tend to do ( he did all of that) but because he also intentionally taught me the truth behind "what most guys really want from a woman" Kinda makes you want to stay single forever. Don't ask - long story and you know I hate long blogs.
I'll say this however - Ladies, Never compromise your non-negotiables AND a man should ideally be at the end of the day ...your companion. That way, IF and WHEN he goes the only thing missing is his company.
Enough of me and my happy story.
As for the matchmaking stint - my updates.
Matchmaking is fun. I wish I had the time to really exhaust the concept and maybe make a business out of it. There is TRUE potential. As a neutral party I get to sift through the non-negotiables on both sides and see how much of a match both parties are together. But I made it super hard on myself and my candidate with so many options and so many really good options at that. And while he said he was ready for "love" I think he was really ready to "settle down" and there is a difference.
No one should settle. Love or Nothing at All.
So we've agreed that this week we'll host a live Q&A session. The details of this will be circulated only to the women who responded so you can ask him questions directly or I'll put him on the spot with the questions sent to me and you can just play a fly on the wall. From there on anyone who thinks they would love to explore further will be furnished with his contact details and I'll take myself out the equation to focus on My true love...Sugarplum Box !
